GAME
DAY TIMELINE
Penn
State will play Wisconsin for Homecoming this year. The game begins
at noon. Registration, with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and doughnuts,
will begin at 6:30 am. Practice begins at 8:00 a.m. sharp. After
practice, if you want to perform at Tailgreat, you need to be seated
at the Bryce Jordan Center at 10:00 a.m. We’re hoping to get
everyone in the stadium, ready for pre-game, by 11:20 am. <

PEP
BAND AT HINTZ ALUMNI CENTER
The
Penn State Alumni Association has started to host an alumni reception
at the Hintz Family Alumni Center on the Friday afternoon of Homecoming
weekend and has asked if we could pull together a small pep band
to play at the reception. Dr. Bundy will be supplying us with arrangements
that can be used with assorted small groups that lack full instrumentation.
If you are interested in playing, check off the box on the registration
form. Because this is a new event, do not plan to attend unless
we get back to you and tell you that the gig is on. <

PARADE
If
you want to march the Homecoming Parade, you need to assemble at
the Food Services Building (corner of Bigler and the service road)
at 5:00 pm on October 3. If you need to borrow an instrument, you
need to get to the Shack by 4:30 pm; we will close up the Shack
by 5:10 pm and will not be able to lend any more instruments after
that time. Step off is 5:30, and we will again be near the head
of the parade.
NEW
FOR THE PARADE: For those of you who don’t have the music
memorized, we will have folios this year! They will be available
at the Food Services Building. You need to turn the folios in, either
at the social or the next morning at registration. ALSO - we’ll
introduce one more song into the parade rotation. <

POST-PARADE
SOCIAL
After
the Homecoming Parade there will be an ABBA reception at the Nittany
Lion Inn. This reception is free and open to all ABBA members and
their family members, whether you marched in the parade or not.
We
have held this reception for the past several years, and each year
it gets better. Hot and cold hors d’oeuvres will be served
and a cash bar is available. Plan to attend and share stories of
the “good old days” with fellow alumni. <

HOW
DO I REGISTER?
Registration
materials were sent out to all ABBA members in on July 29. If you
are reading this after August 4 and have not yet received the registration
materials, please call the ABBA hotline at (814) 865-2343 and ask
for registration material to be sent to you.
To
register for this year’s Homecoming activities, you must fill
out the registration card that was sent to you and return it with
the registration fee by September 2, 2003. The fee this year is
$59, which includes the cost of a ticket to the game plus $15 to
cover the expenses of running Homecoming. The funds from the purchase
of the ticket go to the Blue Band as a donation from the Athletic
Department.
On
the registration card you’ll want to check off the activities
in which you intend to participate, correct any incorrect preprinted
information (or add any missing information), and cut on the dotted
line. Return the card to the Blue Band office, at 101 Music Building
II, University Park, PA 16802. Also make sure to enclose your $59
check, payable to “Penn State.”
You’ll
also need to let us know on your registration card whether you need
to borrow an instrument. < Back

HOW
DO I VOLUNTEER?
If
you want to VOLUNTEER, either for a single job or as part of the
Homecoming Committee, note that on your registration card. We will
call you. Or you can email
the Homecoming Chair, Bill Rubert. <

REGISTRATION
CONFIRMATION
You’ll
get a postcard in early September informing you if you have made
the block and giving you last-minute instructions
CAN
YOU REGISTER LATE, OR CAN YOU JUST SHOW UP WITHOUT REGISTERING?
Well,
yes, assuming that there is space in the stadium and in the block.
If you send in your registration after September 2, you may not
get a postcard, but we’ll try to email you. After September
25, though, don’t bother sending in the registration card.
Just email Bill Rubert at psublue2003@hotmail.com to let him know
you’d like to come, and he’ll let you know by return
email if there’s space. If you’re not up on email, just
come on Saturday morning October 4 and we’ll try to shoehorn
you in.

SPOUSE/FRIEND
TICKETS
As
usual, to get a ticket for your spouse or for a friend you’ll
need to complete a ticket application. This application was sent
along with the registration information sent to you. This application
is for an additional ticket, other than the ticket you will get
for your registration fee. This ticket is for a spouse or friend
to sit in a different section (not the Alumni Band section) of the
stadium.
This
spouse/friend ticket application form must be sent to the address
listed on the form, not to the Blue Band office. Note that you need
to return the application by September 19, 2003. If possible, send
it in earlier. < Back to top
