weekend this year is October 12-14. Get ready for a beautiful fall
weekend in State College!
Here’s
all you need to know to register and to show up in the right place
at the right time with the right equipment, instrument, clothing,
etc.

The Alumni Blue
Band will be lining up behind the IM building no later than 5:30
pm for the parade. (updated
10/12/07)
The parade assembly area has actually
been split into two staging areas. The first is over by Beaver Stadium.
The second is behind the IM Building. The Alumni Blue Band, along
with all other alumni groups, will be in the second staging area,
which is in the field behind the IM Building. You need to be in
place by 5:30 pm. Parade step-off is at 6 pm. If you want to borrow
an instrument, you can pick it up at the Blue Band Building from
4:45 pm to 5:20 pm.
The

assembly area is in the pinkish/purple highlighted area shown on
the map which, again, is behind the Intramural Building.
HOW
DO I REGISTER?
To register for this year’s Homecoming
activities, you must fill out the registration card that was sent
to you in early September and return it with the registration
fee by September 21, 2007. If you didn’t get this registration
card, please call the ABBA hotline at (814) 865-2343, or email
our secretary, Helen Meyer, at ham14@psu.edu.
If you haven’t paid your yearly ABBA
dues (only $20 – such a deal!), we can’t register
you for the Homecoming activities. You’ll need to print
out the membership form and send it in
along with your Homecoming registration form.
The fee this year is $70,
which is the same as last year! This includes the current cost
of a ticket to the game plus an amount to cover our expenses in
running Homecoming. The funds from the purchase of the
ticket go to the Blue Band as a donation from the Athletic Department.
On the registration card check off the activities
you’ll participate in, correct any incorrect preprinted
information, and cut on the dotted line. Return the card in the
enclosed envelope, making sure that you’ve reversed the
card so that you’re mailing it to the Blue Band office.
Also make sure to enclose your $70 check, payable to “Penn
State.”
If you want to VOLUNTEER, either for a single
job or as part of the Homecoming Committee, note that on your
registration card. We will
call you.

ABBA
GEAR
Remember that the one “uniform”
requirement for game day is a white jacket. Along with your Homecoming
Registration information was a form for Alumni Blue Band gear,
including white jackets. Our vendor is again T’s Custom
Printing. Send the order form back with your Homecoming Registration,
or send it directly to T’s. T’s needs your order by
September 13. Make checks payable to “T’s.”

TICKET/PARKING
APPLICATION
The ticket application that was sent to you
with your Homecoming Registration information was for two purposes.
First, use it to request a parking pass. For
every car of every Homecoming participant, there must be a parking
pass purchased. We apologize, but the price doubled this year.
Second, use it to get a
ticket for your spouse or for a friend. THIS APPLICATION IS FOR
AN ADDITIONAL TICKET, other than the ticket you will get for your
registration fee. This ticket is for a spouse or friend to sit
in a seating area adjacent to the Alumni Band seating area.
Send this Ticket/Parking application to the
address listed on the form, NOT TO THE BLUE BAND OFFICE. You need
to return the application by September 21, 2007. If possible,
send it in earlier.

HOTEL
ROOMS
We’re sorry, but all hotel rooms in
the Alumni Blue Band block at the Super 8 Motel are spoken for.
We’ll try to get more rooms set aside for us next year.

PEP
BAND AT HINTZ ALUMNI CENTER
The Alumni Association will host an ice cream
social at the Hintz Family Alumni Center on Friday of Homecoming
weekend. A small pep band plays at the social. If you can play
this gig, and if you like Creamery ice cream, check off the box
on the registration form. Get to the Hintz Family Alumni Center
by 1:30 pm. No particular uniform; just wear something on which
you can drip ice cream with impunity.

PARADE
Note: The Alumni
Blue Band will be lining up behind the IM building no later than
5:30 pm for the parade. (updated

If you want to march the Homecoming Parade,
you need to assemble at 5:30 pm on October 12. It will be indicated
on the Registration Confirmation postcard you receive in early
October. If you need to borrow an instrument, you need to get
to the Blue Band Building by 4:45 pm; we will close up by 5:20
pm and can’t lend any more instruments after that time.
Step off is 6 pm and we will again be near the head of the parade.
No alcohol use before or during the parade. Music for the three
parade pieces will be available. The only “uniform”
is that you need to wear a predominantly dark blue Blue Band jacket.
The old jacket with white sleeves is fine, or the solid blue jackets
are fine as well.

POST-PARADE
SOCIAL
The Post-Parade social will again be at the
Blue Band Building. This social is free and open to all ABBA members
and their family members, whether you marched in the parade or
not. We will have a bus to take you from the end of the parade
(at Rec Hall). Hot and cold hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Stop by and reconnect with other Blue Band alumni.

GAME
DAY TIMELINE
The game time is 3:30 pm. Registration (Blue
Band Building) will begin at 9:45 am, with practice (Holuba Hall,
next to the Bryce Jordan Center) at 11:30 am and the Tailgreat
OR Alumni Tent at 1:30 pm. Buses will again be available to take
you from the Blue Band Building to Holuba Hall. We will work out
the transportation delays this year.
Note that the Alumni Tent is not in front
of the Bryce Jordan Center this year; it is at Porter Gardens,
near the new baseball field.

You’ll get a postcard in early October
informing you if you made the block and giving you final instructions.

CAN
YOU REGISTER LATE, OR CAN YOU JUST SHOW UP WITHOUT REGISTERING?
Yes, if there is space in the stadium and
in the block. If you send in your registration after September
21, you may not get a postcard, but we’ll try to email you
a confirmation. After October 3, though, don’t send in the
registration card. Just email us at psublue2007@hotmail.com
to let us know you’d like to come, and we’ll let you
know by return email if there’s space. Or call the ABBA
hotline – (814) 865-2343.
