Join ABBA!
The Alumni Blue Band Association offers an array of benefits, such as our quarterly Fanfare newsletter, Member Discussion forum, news and information about upcoming PSU events. It's easy to join!
Membership Requirements:
Membership in the Alumni Blue Band Association is open to any
Penn State degree holder that was a member of the Penn State Bands Program
at least one semester. The groups in the current program include:
- Marching Blue Band
- Pep Band
- Symphonic Band
- Symphonic Wind Ensemble
- Concert Band
- Campus Band
Previous groups in the program eligible for ABBA membership include Symphonic Blue Band, White Band, and Nittany Lion Band. This list may not be comprehensive. If you were a member of a Penn State band not listed here and want to join, let us know.
Benefits
of Membership:
The ABBA Board of Directors is continually upgrading and increasing the
number of benefits offered to the ABBA membership. Currently, the membership
benefits include:
- A Membership Pin (when you first join)
- A Quarterly Newsletter (The FanFare)
- An invitation to participate in Homecoming performances
- An invitation to purchase Homecoming football tickets
- An invitation to participate in Blue-White Weekend activities
- An invitation to purchase football tickets when ABBA wins Athletic Department lottery
- Invitations to Penn State Alumni Association events
- An opportunity to purchase Bandorama tickets a week before the general public
- Preferred seating at TailGreat
- An invitation for family as well as members to the post-parade Homecoming social
- An invitation to perform in Alumni Pep Band concerts
- Access to the Alumni Blue Band Website and message board
- An opportunity to purchase ABBA-only merchandise
- On opportunity to stay at ABBA Homecoming hotels
- Invitations to ABBA member-only events such as tailgate parties, Bowl Game Social and Welcome Seniors Social
Cost
of Membership:
Alumni Blue Band Association membership dues are $20 annually. These funds
permit us to provide a wide variety of activities such as performance
and social events scheduled throughout the year and permit us to publish
4 newsletters each year. In addition we maintain staffing to be able to
send e-mail notifications about ABBA activities and to maintain an updated
Web site. These activities and communications are exclusive to dues paying
members. Our goal is to continue to offer programming that appeals to
our diverse membership. Your ideas are always welcome.
Generally, dues are requested by mail during the summer. The time can vary according to our publishing schedule. The term of membership matches our organization's fiscal year, from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. You may join ABBA at any time, but your membership ends on the next June 30th.
