Dear
ABBA Members,
It's time for our annual ABBA Board elections. This year the ABBA Board
is trying something new, electronic balloting. As our membership has grown
significantly we have found the need to implement a more automated process
than traditional regular mail. ABBA members with email addresses and Internet
access will use online voting, while members without email will still
receive a traditional paper ballot.
The election will be conducted using the website “BallotBin.com”.
Within the next few days you will be receiving an email from “ABBA_Elections
- Do Not Reply” via notices@ballotbin.com. The subject line of the
email will read “2009 ABBA Board Elections”. It is important
to note that this email is not a virus or spam, so please do not delete
or ignore it. The email will contain simple instructions and a link to
the online ballot where you can vote. Simply follow the link, vote and
submit your ballot online. Short statements from each of the candidates
as well as background information are listed on the electronic ballot.
Here are a few important things to remember:
- Election
ballot emails will be sent out by Saturday, November 14th, 2009, at
Noon.
- If you
do not receive an election email by then, please check to make sure
that your email wasn’t directed to your “Junk” or
“Spam” email folders. Depending on your virus protection
software settings, your election email may have been unintentionally
sent there.
- If you
have checked your “Spam” folder, and you still did not receive
an email, please contact Sean Strine at ABBAElections@alumniblueband.org
for assistance.
- The election
will end at Midnight on Monday, November 30th, 2009. Ballots must be
submitted by this time in order to be counted.
We look forward
to utilizing this process and the advantages it brings. You, the ABBA
member, control the direction and future of the organization by exercising
your voting rights. Please make every effort to vote this year for the
benefit of you and the Alumni Blue Band Association.

Great news! The Alumni Blue Band has been asked once again to play at
the Penn State vs. Wisconsin basketball game on Sunday, January 3, 2010
scheduled as a 2 p.m. tip off. The Blue Band will be on a holiday break
if not at a bowl game, and will not be able to cover this game. We will
be putting together the details and sending them to you after we find
out if we have enough people to play.
We
need a preliminary count of people who might be interested so we can say,
“Yes” to the invitation. If you think you can participate
(and this is not a commitment at this point), please e-mail wattsey@comcast.net
by November 30, 2009. For this preliminary count, please let me know what
instrument and part you will be playing. Auxiliary sections are welcome
as well.
As
an added incentive, Intercollegiate Athletics is offering up to four (4)
complimentary tickets to the game per participant, which would allow you
to bring family or friends with you for free.
Please
remember to contact wattsey@comcast.net
Thank
you,
Alumni Blue Band Office

The Philadelphia 76ers are hosting a Penn State night on January 8th,
2010 at 7 pm. The Sixers are taking on the Toronto Raptors.
This gig
is in the planning stages right now, but it looks like we will be doing
the National Anthem and be allowed to play during timeouts during the
game! Because of this, we have to all sit together.
Tickets are
only $15 each (discounted from the normal $45) and I need to know by Friday,
November 13th if you are interested. DO NOT REPLY to this email, instead
send an email to trange2@comcast.net and type SIXERS2010 in the Subject
Line. In your message, please send me:
- Your Name
- Instrument
- Part
- Ticket
Count (Family will be able to sit behind us)
- Cell
Phone

You will

Many
thanks to all of you who contributed to this great success! There are
so many who worked on Homecoming it is difficult to single out everyone
here, but I want to express my sincere appreciation for the contribution
and dedication to the entire Homecoming Committee, each and every one
of you.
A special thank you to Bill Rubert who for the past five years has left
a strong legacy on which all of us can build. During Bill's tenure we
added hotel rooms (a much needed addition), transportation buses, new
stadium music, additional funding by the Penn State Alumni Association,
and many innovations that greatly improved the experience for our members.
Thanks Bill! Oh, and we know where to find you if we need help, lol.
And thanks to Sue Delanko for stepping up and joining the Homcoming committee
as co-chair for 2007. You have already made an impact. We look forward
to your continued leadership in 2008. More....
